MULTIGENERATIONAL LIVING – Design Considerations – Working Through the Challenges

A phenomenon that is increasing in popularity, enlight of the rising costs and supply issues of housing in Ontario, is Multigenerational living. As we know, designing for a family, couple or individuals looking to age in their home has its challenges at the best of times. When family members at different stages in their lives decide to all co-exist in the same space, designing for a space that works for everyone can be difficult. Based on his company’s experience in this area, Tony Gatti, RPP, of Gatti Brothers Ltd., will discuss what should be taken into consideration when working with Multigenerational clients. Tony will discuss some of Gatti Brothers’s current and past Multigenerational projects and describe how they dealt with some of the challenges.
