Opening Speaker – Sensing Your Space: Using Multi-Sensory Thinking to Enhance Design
Dr. Hoby Wedler has been completely blind since birth. Interior design is often thought of as a visual field as we analyze spaces to optimize their visual appeal and comfort. However, design is about so much more than our eyesight. How do rooms sound? How do the chairs we sit on feel beneath us? How do we react to the temperature of the bathroom floor on our bare feet? Hoby applies his lack of eyesight as an advantage to his work in design consulting as a multi-sensory designer and branding professional. Through key examples and insights, Hoby will guide us through the process of becoming sensory literate and describe how he uses his acute sensory literacy to enhance interior design and so much more. This will be an engaging, interactive, entertaining, and educational presentation.
