Award Winning Kitchen. Designed with Aging in Place in Mind

Join Mina Zeighami, Founder and Principal Designer at Design by Azure for a design tour of her award winning Doris kitchen project. The homeowners, a couple in their late 60’s and early 70s, downsized from a large detached home in the suburbs into a Toronto penthouse apartment after their children left home. They wanted a stylish kitchen that was functional and able to safely serve them as they aged in place. This room was re-designed and built to be functional, easy to navigate and move without restrictions. This kitchen serves a good case study for those who are looking for design and ageing in place inspiration.

DesignbyAzure is an award winning full- service interior design firm that designs residential projects and small commercial interiors from concept to completion all over the GTA. Mina Zeighami- Founder and Principal Designer at Design by Azure has always had a love for beautiful, interesting and artistic things. She graduated with Bachelors of Interior Design from Ryerson University and Interior Architecture from the University of Tehran. She also mentored under some of Toronto’s leading designers and is a proud member of National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and Decorators and Designers association of Canada (DDA). After 8 years of studying interior design and architecture, Mina started her own studio in 2015 and opened her first boutique showroom/studio in 2017 at the Improve Centre (Canada’s Largest Home Improvement Centre) in Vaughan, Ontario. Now she works with architects, builders, contractors and trades from the studs to the finishing touches. On any given day, She wears different hats for different jobs. She is a proud owner and principal designer of DesignbyAzure (Azure Design Studio Inc) and AzureandCo (Designer furnishing, accessories and vintage by DesignbyAzure). “I do consider myself a designer at heart and let everything else flow from there”. Mina Zeighami She enjoys attending Interior Design shows, some of which are across the world including, Salone Del Mobile Milano, Highpoint Furniture Market, Maison et Objet, IIDEX and IDS Toronto. Essentially, Mina and her team believe you should love where you live and work. Like how Issey Miyake said, “Design is not for philosophy, It’s for life.”
