Smart Technology to Live in Place™
Smart technology continues to advance and provide many options to help support older adults as they live in place. This presentation discusses recent smart technologies available on the market for various uses and their application to living in place. A discussion of how the different devices support older adults, preferences of older adults, ethics, and considerations to improve the adoption process will occur.
Dr. Monique Chabot, OTD, OTR/L, SCEM, CLIPP, CAPS is an assistant professor of occupational therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She has spent her entire career working with older adults in their homes and continues to practice clinically with Habitat for Humanity on the CAPABLE project. She specializes in home modifications, environmental design, and smart technology.
